I had lunch with my priest a couple of months ago. We discussed my work and my call. I shared with him some concerns I had and how I had trying to negotiate with God (which I know is ridiculous but you have to admit we all do it).
He said something that's continued to play in my head over the past few weeks: "God wants all of you."
Of course Father Fred was right...as much as I didn't want to hear it.
God isn't content with us worshiping Him for an hour on Sunday. He's not content that we give thanks when things go our way or ask for help when we're in a crisis or when someone we love is sick. He's not content that we give money to the poor at Thanksgiving or donate to charities after a natural disaster.
He asks that we recognize He is Lord and that we truly make Him the center of our lives. If we did that, then everything we do would revolve around Him and be consistent with the core tenets of our faith. We would be focused on community rather than ourselves.
Can we truly say we do that? And do we do it for our glory or for the Lord's?
I write this blog not because I think I'm perfect but because I feel called to work through this and help others discuss how to live their faith at work and how faith applies and is demonstrated in all areas of our lives.
I hope you'll join this conversation.
