At my church we've been trying to get everyone to wear name tags at service and at the events. Suddenly people you've walked right past for years say hello to you and you suddenly no longer feel awkward saying hi to them.
There's something about using a person's name when you talk with them that just makes you feel like you're having a more intimate conversation with them. And when they use your name it makes you feel a little more connected to them. The more you use their name, the more likely you are to remember it.
If you work for a company with lots of people, make a commitment to learn one new person's name this week and use it at least once when talking with them. If you really do know everyone where you work, try using one person's name more often through the course of the day and see the impact it has on your relationship.
Remember, loving our neighbor is the second greatest commandment we have and we should remain committed to demonstrating that love throughout the day at work.
